There's an article in this week's New Yorker that I found affecting.

In theory it's about asking whether we should allow people to sell their kidneys. But the affecting part is the stories of people who decide to give a stranger a kidney. Here's the abstract, which is of course not affecting at all. Find a copy of the issue if you can.
