A small–but crucial–glitch made my old copy of iMovie almost unworkable for what I hoped to do with it today. And with a client expecting a rough-cut of a video tomorrow, I had to jump to iMovie '09 to get it done.
It turns out the new version wasn't as bad as I'd feared. '08, the version that enraged users so much that Apple posted the previous version to mollify us, has been replaced by a much-improved '09 and I am really starting to see the benefits. After I'd gotten my project squared away for the night, I played around with the new version of iMovie and edited this short little video together from the 4th of July Parade on Madeline Island, WI. It was surprisingly quick, and well-suited to my purpose: find a few short clips, throw them together, and put a song under it. (The song, by the way, is the Madeline Island song which is sung by the crowd every year right after the parade. I'd only heard it before sitting down to edit this, but it still was able to get in my head, so be warned.) So here's my movie. Lots of sun and fun from the ol' Midwest. We'll spend Christmas with Mary's family in St. Louis and then head north for Lake Superior.
